About Me
I've been into programming and making web sites since early middle school. One summer, using Front Page Express and a copy of Teach Yourself HTML 4 in 24 Hours, I created by first web site using Angelfire.com's free web site service.
Throughout high school, I originally thought I wanted to be a computer programmer. I took a class on C++ and Visual Basic. While I enjoyed those classes and had fun while programming, something just didn't feel right. A few semesters later, I took a basic and an advanced web design class. Now I still remembered most of what I learned through that book, but it was a nice refresher. The classes also covered basic Flash and Photoshop. Even though I really didn't learn a whole lot more from those classes, I found myself having more fun with HTML and JavaScript that I did with Visual Basic and C++.
I later join the Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) at my high school's career center where we were to use what we've learned in our computer courses in a simulated real-life work environment. Our senior year project was a group assignment. We were to create a fully functional web site that promoted the community we live in (A link and more information about this site can be found on my portfolio page). Looking back, I can honestly say I had loads of fun working on that project despite the times when everyone in our group wanted to rip each other's heads off! I also gained a great deal of knowledge in web design.
When I went on to college, my major was originally was a business track to becoming a systems analyst. After about two semesters, I decided to switch to web development. I taught myself PHP over the summer and applied what I learned from my database class and never looked back since.
