Getting Started
So you want to have a Website for your company but don't know where or how to start. Use this page as a guide to springboard your company into the World Wide Web.
Step 1 - Figure out what you want:
It's always a good idea to have some ideas as to what you want your Website to look like. Some things you should consider include colors, logos, layout. Start browsing through other sites and see how they are set up. I will be more than happy to give suggestions and input pertaining to how your Website will look.
Step 2 - Check your name:
The Internet is constantly growing and Website addresses are being bought left and right. Go ahead and jot down some ideas for names (like buysongs.com, thesongstore.com, muiscland.net, etc). You can use the Whois Search Tool to see if a name is already taken.
Step 3 - Gather some content:
A page with just a logo on it does absolutely nothing for you. Start putting together and organizing images, charts, text, or whatever you need to fill those empty pages with information.
Things to remember when someone creates a Website for you
If you have questions, ASK THEM:
Web development is like any technical field. It's full of "jargon" and "buzzwords" that can make anyone's head spin. Sometimes, I tend to get caught up in my explanations and forget to use simple terms. If you don't understand what I'm talking about or just have questions, just ask me and I will be glad to explain.
Don't expect me to fully know your company inside and out:
I will help you understand how the Internet works, how your Website works, and what you need to to know to present your company and image in the best way possible. In turn, you can help me understand you and how your company works. Together, we can make the best Website possible!
Know what you want to have on your site:
My job is to present whatever information you give me. I cannot make a site without input from you as to what exactly you want on it. If you do not like what I put on the site, just tell me and I will change it.
Remember, Web Developers are human too:
I will do my best to process whatever you need updated on your site as fast as possible. If I forget to change that one graphic you asked me to or add that one paragraph at the bottom of a page, just shoot me a quick reminder and I will get right on it as soon as I can do it.
